Is there anything better than curling up in a cozy blanket with a good book? Fall is the season that reminds us of the cozy vibes of orange leaves, pumpkins, hot cocoa and cute sweaters. Nothing is better than a good book that encapsulates the feeling of a season. If you’re looking for books that will hold your attention and put you in the autumn spirit, you’ve come to the right place.

The first book recommendation is a semi-popular new release called The Atlas Six by Olivia Blake. This book gained popularity on TikTok around a year ago. The Atlas Six follows 6 people possessing magic to join a secret society. This secret society – the Alexandrian – is very elite and prestigious. Out of the 6 initiates, only 5 will be selected to join the Alexandrian. This book is full of plot twists and moments that will leave you sitting at the edge of your seat. A plus side of this dark-academia style book is that the sequel, The Atlas Paradox, will be released on Oct. 25, 2022. This is an excellent duology that will leave you feeling in the fall spirit.

Another great read for this season is Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo, an author popular for her YA fantasy books. Ninth House is Bardugo’s first adult fantasy novel. It follows the main character, Alex Stern, who is able to see the dead. She is the sole survivor of an unsolved homicide. She is offered the chance of a full ride at Yale, and she is thrown into the university’s secret societies. This book is full of very fitting dark academia vibes, along with murder, mystery, and ghosts. The sequel to Ninth House is set to be released at the beginning of 2023.

For longtime Harry Potter lovers, A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik will put you back into a world with a magical boarding school. Though this school comes with a twist – the school is very dangerous, and each year, many students die. The novel follows Galadriel, a student at the school as she tries to survive until graduation.

These books are a great way to escape from the chill of fall and curl up inside with something to do.
