Christmas Cookie Recipes
One way to celebrate and get ready for Christmas is by making cookies with your family and friends. Some traditional Christmas cookies we bake at my house are gingerbread men, peanut butter blossoms, and of course, sugar cookies. There are many other cookies to make during Christmas time, but these are some of my favorites. You can start making Christmas cookies whenever you feel like it. You can out homemade cookies in the freezer for up to three months without them losing their favor.
To make 25 gingerbread cookies, it will take about an hour. If you want to make more, just double the ingredients!
You will need:
- 3/4 cup of softened butter
- 3/4 cup of packed brown sugar
- 2/3 cup of molasses
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp. of pure vanilla extract
- 3 1/4 cup of all purpose flour
- 1 tbsp. of ground ginger
- 1 tsp. of baking soda
- 1 tsp. of ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
- 2” grated ginger
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
First, you will use a hand mixer to combine the butter, brown sugar, and molasses until it is fluffy. Add egg and vanilla until completely blended. Next, whisk flour, spices, baking soda, and the salt together. Put the mixer on the lowest setting and add these ingredients to the wet ingredients from earlier, as well as your grated ginger, orange zest and black pepper. Do not mix the dough too much, just until it comes together. After you do that, wrap dough in plastic wrap and let it chill for at least three hours, or until firm. Then, preheat the oven to 350 and put parchment paper on the baking sheets. making dough 1/4 inches thick and cut gingerbread men with a 3 inch wide cutter. Let cookies bake for 9 minutes or until somewhat puffed. Lastly, let them cool for at least 5 minutes and decorate them using icing and sprinkles!
Another easy cookie recipe that is great is peanut butter blossom. This recipe that my family uses is Betty Crocker’s and it takes about 1 hour to make 36 cookies.
You will need:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 3/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- Hershey Kisses and additional granulated sugar
First, preheat your oven to 375 while you prepare your cookies. Mix your granulated sugar, brown sugar, peanut butter, butter and egg until they areĀ blended together. Combine with your flour, baking soda and powder until your dough is created. Next, compose dough into balls about 1 inch and roll in more granulated sugar. Place the dough balls on an ungreased baking sheet a few inches away from one another. Place cookies in oven for about 9 minutes or until the edges are a light golden brown color. As soon as you remove cookies from oven, place a hershey kiss in the middle of each one. Finally, let the cookies cool and enjoy them!
Sugar cookies are a tradition in many families for Christmas. This is a amazing recipe to make 3 dozen cookies in 15 minutes.
You will need:
- 1 cup of softened butter
- 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. of baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. of kosher salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- Additional granulated sugar
First, preheat the oven to 350 and line sheets with parchment paper. Cream together butter and sugar for about 3 minutes or until fluffy. Mix in egg after until it’s mixed well. Next, combine in flour, baking powder and salt. Don’t forget your vanilla also. Then, roll your dough into tablespoon sizes balls. Roll your cookie dough balls into the extra granulated sugar and place onto baking sheet. Lastly, press down on the dough just a little and bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Remember not to over beat your mix, it will create the cookie to become flat.
