With the holiday season fast approaching, American shoppers are experiencing yet another affect of Covid-19. The economy is struggling to fully recover from the shutdowns that took place amidst the pandemic, leading to supply-chain disruptions across the country. This has been driving up prices and fueling the growing shortage of goods. Lack of warehouse workers and truck drivers is also contributing to the supply shortage. As stores begin hanging up Christmas lights, we also see them hanging up price signs. Among the high priced or hard to find are turkeys, alcohol, jewelry, gaming consoles, sportswear, books, toys, cars, and many electronic devices. Experts are advising consumers to wait and start tapering their demands for goods, or they may ultimately end up paying a higher price once long-awaited products become available. Many suspect that the shortages will last well into 2022, or possibly longer. As this holiday season nears, it’s important to have patience, shop smart, and perhaps focus on things aside from the materialistic.
