On March 20th, Mohawk High School students came together to host Mohawk’s first ever March Madness Inclusion Tournament. Eight teams were formed including The Warrior Squad, Three Pointers, The Ballers, The Hoop Jumpers, The Slam Dunkers, The Hoop Squad, Mohawk Free Throwers, and The GOATS.
The championship game went into double overtime and resulted in The GOATS taking the crown and The Three Pointers taking second place.
The GOATS were awarded first place medals and the inclusion players were rewarded with certificates and awards. For example, the most valuable player reward went to Kegan Maywell.
This event allowed the kids to participate in something bigger and helped promote inclusion. This gave the kids confidence and gave them a chance to participate in a team to have the joy of competing.
