Welcoming Mr. Doub
Mr. Doub is a new teacher this year at Mohawk, as well as this being his first year ever teaching. He teaches World Cultures and AP World History. He went to Peters Township High school and graduated from Penn Sate University just this year. He was captain of the Cross Country and Track team. He explained that he didn’t care much for the academics and was more there for sports and his friends. In comparison to where he went to high school, Mr. Doub says though Mohawk is quite smaller, they both seem to have similar experiences. This being his first year teaching, he says he is still learning the way he likes to do things. He likes that he can be himself and that not be a bad thing. Teaching was not his first career choice. He originally wanted to design race cars, but after doing that for a little he realized he didn’t enjoy it. His next choice was the Special forces in the Air force. He joined the ROTC program . He unfortunately has a peanut allergy and when his instructors found out they said he could only continue to come back if he could eat a peanut and survive. He ate the peanut and unfortunately had a server reaction and couldn’t rejoin in ROTC. He then finally changed his major to education. He chose to teach history because he didn’t enjoy it much growing up and wanted to make it better. When he is not teaching he enjoys motorcycles ,driving, and exercise.
