Wilmington Ends with Winning Season

MARCH 17, 2022 – Tonight, the Wilmington Area Hockey Team, including athletes from Mohawk, Ellwood City, Union, New Castle, Wilmington, and Sharpsville, fought valiantly against the Bishop Canevin Crusaders in the semi-final round of the PIHL playoffs. However, the Hounds lost 5-1 in three periods, putting an end to their great season.

In the beginning of the hockey season, the Hounds had a rough start, but something arose in the players and they turned that right around.

In the regular season, Wilmington held a record of 11-7-1-2 with 11 wins, 7 losses, 1 overtime win, and 2 shootout losses

In the postseason, came the playoffs, where the Hounds returned to playing the Carrick Cougars, where they won 2-1 in overtime.

Then came the semi-final round, where the Hounds faced off against the Bishop Canevin Crusaders, where they unfortunately lost 5-1, ending the season.
