Augmented Reality
Here at Mohawk from February 5th to the 7th Marc Chichoine, a google employee, has come to talk to grades k-12 about augmented reality. Augmented reality is similar to virtual reality except instead of being immersed in a computer program the computer program is brought into our reality via technology. Google has been working on augmented reality for a little while and are two weeks into the beta that has been brought to our campus. Lessons on augmented reality were held in the new steam rooms where we used google smartphones to scan QR codes which brought to life whatever our “teacher” wanted. Google is hoping to get this technology into schools so that instead of looking at pictures in power points we might be able to walk around and look at 3D model of whatever we are leaning about. The possibilities are endless and there is nothing in our way of them.
