Americana Comes To Mohawk

Americana+Comes+To+Mohawk

On Tuesday, February 27, Mohawk held its annual Pops Concert featuring the Mohawk choirs, the Jazz band, and the Sr. High band. This year the theme of the concert was Americana. The Jazz band was up first playing three pieces that featured soloist: Maya Ponziani, Haydan Tucker, Molly Fitzimmons, Gaige O’Neil, and Shannon Lombardo. Up next was the Jr. High choir who sang “Jump Right In” by the Zac Brown Band, because what is more American than a good country song? After that was the treble choir who sang the American classic “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” featuring Mr. Zeh on Trumpet, and may I say he did amazing. Following that the Senior High choir sang “Something Just Like This”. After them was an amazing Irving Berlin medley called “Rags to Ritz” which started off with just Sr. High Choir and were then joined by the Jr. High boys and then finally the Jr. High girls finishing off the song with a bang. Last, but certainly not least, the Sr. High Concert Band played two pieces “American Salute” and “King Cotton” that were not only very challenging and demanding of the band, but they sounded absolutely amazing. Overall this concert was one of the best concerts that Mohawk has hosted in years and I really look forward to coming back next year to see what they do next!
