The episode’s jump between the past and present gives an insight to Serena’s frivolous past, while still showcasing the wholesome and heartfelt Thanksgiving experienced by everyone else. The episode’s drama was impactful without overwhelming the audience, leading us to the happy ending every Thanksgiving episode needs.

Gilmore Girls: Season 3 Episode 9 A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving

The beloved Gilmore Girls take on Thanksgiving full force this episode. Their morning begins at the Kims, with local Christian guitarists and loads of tofurkey. Next they experience the absurdity of Jackson’s family. From gobblers to shoes nothing remains safe from the wrath of the deep fryer. Next, dinner with the grinch, involves the annual flower-vase argument, and a look into the disastrous relationship between Cat Kirk and Human Kirk. Their final stop at Emily and Richard’s falls nothing short of dramatic. Loralie’s usual word vomit and Rory’s college plans exposed intensify the already existent cold war between the Gilmores. With their unfathomable eating abilities and incredible wits four Thanksgivings has nothing on the Gilmore Girls.

As the ritual sacrifice of all ritual sacrifices (Thanksgiving) rapidly approaches, the Scooby Gang battles it out with the vengeful Shumack Tribe. Xander’s newfound Syphilis and Willow’s empathetic tendencies nearly take them out of the mix. Spike’s recent nuterage leaves him so eager for blood, he turns to Buffy for help. With the tribe leader’s inability to die from anything aside from his own knife, Buffy bear-ly makes it out alive. The episode’s nostalgia factor amplified, giving the audience a sense of the earlier seasons especially with Angel being there and everything

After all, reliving past pain and getting depressed is what Thanksgiving’s all about.

How I Met Your Mother: Season 3 Episode 9 Slapsgiving

Slapsgiving, the day spent with the four people everyone loves most in the world and Bob. While Lily determinedly strives for the perfect Thanksgiving, Ted and Robin avoid each other at all costs. Barney dreads the up-and-coming slappage that Marshall so eagerly planned. By 3:01 Ted and Robin’s newfound friendship begins and Barney’s acquires his third and most painful slap. The episode’s plethora of slap puns and old people jokes adds a sense of hilarity to the usual coziness of the show.
